I was finally able to check out Broome Street General Store in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. This is one of the cutest little stores that sell all the little speciality items that you can't find in regular grocery store (i.e. fleur de sel). But hands down the best thing they have here is their coffee! I got an ice coffee and it was the best coffee I have ever had. The pure flavor of the beans is out of this world. I have been craving it ever since and may need to pay them another visit soon for another cup.

Happy Bastille Day! {French Day!}
Happy Bastille Day! Also known as French National Day. As a Francophile, I will be indeed celebrating the French love in me. What I would give to be over in France today! I'm sure the Eiffel tower will be glittering with lights and there will be be a parade of beautifully dressed people eating macarons and beignets (sigh) today.
But in the meantime, aren't these balloons gorgeous? They are made by Geromino Balloons and they are a LA based company that makes the most fabulous ballons for any party. Wouldn't it be beautiful to have these balloons accompany a few macarons and beignets at your next party? I am totally considering it.

Hip hip horray! {on mothering}
The picture above is my little monkey jumping off the board in her swim class this week. Last week she didn't want any part of it, this week she jumped off it twice. She is maturing so much each day!
As you know, I started potty training her last week and I am so proud to say we haven't had any accidents since day 2! She is telling me now when she has to go and its been such a great transition! I will admit it, I was ready to give up on day 2 when she had several accidents.. but day 3 came and she just picked it up. I read online somewhere that a mom said she would say, "hip! hip! horray! (child name) went potty today!" So, I thought I'd try it and I tossed Sophia in the air each time. SHE LOVED IT! She loved that her mommy was so proud of her.
We all have tough moments with our toddlers, but sometimes its letting go what we want to control in our child that is tougher than our actual child. I know, I always have to remind myself that Sophia is 2 years old. Although she may seem 12 years old at times, she is not. We must learn to embrace each age and each moment with our little monkeys. Lately I've been having much more moments of awe with her. Yesterday we were apart for 30 minutes and when she saw me, she gave me the tightest hug and said, "i miss you!" My heart melted.
Hope you all are having these special moments with your children lately as I have been with mine.

what will you be?
Lately, I wonder a lot about what Sophia will be when she grows up. We all kind of thought for sure she would be a singer after day 2 of newbornhood. She was proclaimed the "loudest" newborn by her pediatrician and nurses. (i still think she will be an amazing singer one day...the loudness has only gotten louder). But lately, I see her finding things she really loves... like painting, playing DJ (loves pretending anything is her microphone) and finding incredible interest in doctors and medical equipment.
Either way... I love watching her grow every minute and discover new things she loves. I hopefully watch and can't wait to support her in every decision.
mermaid in training {the potty}
I have officially taken the daytime diapers away today. So far its noon and we have already wet through one outfit (and it was because she went to the potty herself, sat down and didn't take her pants off). WOO HOO! We have been on and off potty training since Christmas. {i know, i am totally ashamed its still going on} But enough is enough.. and we will make several wet mistakes in the meantime, but we will be diaper free (hopefully) soon.
Any mom's out there have any friendly advice? Please share. And yes, I will be another mom out there with a potty chair in the back of her trunk.

the glow {glimpse of motherhood}
Motherhood is so beautiful. In all its glory of exhaustion and joys ever second of it is magical when it is captivated and saved through images. I am obsessed with taking photos. I have probably taking at least one picture of Sophia once a day. Time is flying by too quickly.

Happy 4th of July!
This is one of my favorite holidays in the year. I LOVE LOVE love watching fireworks. There is something so magical about looking at pretty glitter sparks fly through the sky. I have always loved it as a child, and even more as an adult. I can't help "ooouuuing" and "ahhhing" each time a spark flies high. Admit it, you do it too.
As excited as I am, I am even more excited for my Sophia to see it. Last year, she fell asleep and we enjoyed them while she slept in our arms. I can't wait to see her face this year as sparks fly.
